Remote sensing is a suitable candidate for monitoring rapid changes in Polar regions, offering high-resolution spectral, spatial and radiometric data. This paper focuses on the spectral properties of dominant plant species acquired during the first week of August 2015. Twenty-eight plots were selected, which could easily be identified in the field as well as on RapidEye satellite imagery. Spectral measurements of individual species were acquired, and heavy metal contamination stress factors were measured contemporaneously. Cubic metamaterial crystal supporting broadband isotropic chiral phonons

Chiral metamaterials can support chiral phonons leading to acoustical activity, the acoustical counterpart of optical activity. However, the properties of early metamaterial designs have been very highly anisotropic, and chiral acoustical phonons occurred only for selected high-symmetry directions. The authors propose a novel chiral metamaterial based on ``twisting'' a truncated octahedron in a simple-cubic unit cell. Not supported by crystal symmetry alone but rather by a tuned degeneracy, chiral phonons and large broadband acoustical activity are obtained for all phonon propagation directions in 3D. Abstract Introduction To evaluate the effects of combined therapy using intravitreal Aflibercept (IVA) and photodynamic therapy (PDT) on polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy related to pachychoroid disease (PPCV).Methods Patients with PPCV were treated with PDT combined with 3 IVA injections on a monthly basis, followed by pro re nata criteria. The 12-month follow-up consisted of multiple revaluations of visual acuity and SSOCT parameters of clinical activity.Results Nineteen eyes were included in the study; mean age was 65.5 years. Anhydrous, dimeric vanadyl(IV) complexes of Schiff bases derived from [1+1] condensation of salicylaldehyde (or its derivatives) and anthranilic acid, have been synthesized from CH3CN and were characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR, EPR, absorption, TGA, cyclic voltammetry and room temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements. These complexes were found to be oxidized by air in polar solvents like MeOH and DMF to V-V products. The yeast Set1-complex catalyzes histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4) methylation. Using N-terminal Edman sequencing, we determined that 50% of H3K4 is methylated and consists of roughly equal amounts of mono, di and tri-methylated H3K4. We further show that loss of either Paf1 of the Paf1 elongation complex, or ubiquitination of histone H2B, has only a modest effect on bulk histone mono-methylation at H3K4. Despite the fact that Set1 recruitment decreases in paf1delta cells, loss of Paf1 results in an increase of H3K4 mono-methylation at the 5' coding region of active genes, suggesting a Paf1-independent targeting of Set1.
